Anh Nguyen

Anh Nguyen is a first-generation Asian American photographer based in Dallas, Texas. Born in Vietnam, Anh learned to adapt to life in the United States without knowing the language or customs, and at a young age, he used unconventional methods of learning to quickly adjust and thrive in a new environment, proving that in unfamiliar circumstances, he can always find a solution.

His mother, a florist, and his father, a videographer, began working in the wedding industry, and when Anh was in middle school, his father needed someone to be his second camera man, thus exposing Anh to photography. But it wasn’t until Anh’s sophomore year in high school that he got his first camera, a Canon Rebel XSi—the true start to his photography career.

His career picked up when he was commissioned for his first solo wedding in the summer of 2008. He focused on building a clientele in the wedding industry and even shot events at local colleges, including SMU. In 2009, he attended the Art Institute of Dallas, where he expanded his repertoire to include commercial, fashion, and sports photography. In 2011, he relocated to Southern California, where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Photography from The Art Institute of Orange County and the University of Southern California, and went on to earn his Master's in Art at Texas A&M Commerce.

Since then, Anh has been published locally and internationally, shooting for clients such as the NBA, Staples Center, AT&T Stadium, Vogue, LA Times, Kim Dawson, LOCALE, Heritage, Heritage Vietnam, and many more. He is now a freelance photographer and a Professor at Collin College and Dallas College, both based in Dallas, Texas.
